Rodrigo Villa-Martinez

Rodrigo Villa-Martinez study Degree in Biology and Pedagogy in Biology and Natural Sciences in the University of Talca, as where I graduate in 1989-1990. It is in this House of Studies where it began to study micro and macrocospic fossils of present plants and the Tertiary one of central Chile, next to the Dr. Alejandro Troncoso. In 1995 it obtained the Magíster in Biological Sciences with mention in Botany, and their thesis was centered in the reconstruction of paleoclima of the coast of central Chile during last the 5000 years. In 2002 it receives the rank of Doctor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, where it continued his work of paleoclimatic reconstruction of central Chile and its relation with the history of events Boy-Oscillation of the South during the Holoceno. In both cases, their thesis works were directed by the Dra. Carolina Villagrán in the Laboratory of Palinología of the University of Chile. During its demurrage like student of postgraduate of the Dra. Villagrán, the vegetation of Chile had the opportunity to cross great part of the country studying. In integral year 2002 to the Training center of the Quaternary, where it began to study the paleoclimatic history of South Patagonia. During temporary year 2008 he was Director of Foundation CEQUA. At the moment, this focused in revealing the glacial and postglacial history of Patagonia the center-south. During his race it has participated as main investigator and Co-investigator in several Fondecyt projects. He is member of the Chilean scientific societies of Biology, Botany, Ecology and paleontology.

My center of investigation this trim in the reconstruction of the vegetation and the climate during the Quaternary (last 2 million years). My particular interest is to determine since they have varied the wind belt of the west and as they are his effects in the distribution of the biota through time. In order to approach this problem use mainly the palinología to reconstruct the changes of vegacionales and the climate, as well as variations lacustrine, glacial geomorphology, tefrocronología, geochronology, among others. At the moment I am extending the network of paleoecologicos registries that allow to determine climatic regional landlords of change and their relation on global scale. Other subjects of my interest are Biogeography, vegetation of Chile, ecology, evolution of the Chilean flora.
